We have been big fans of Canberra 4-piece Cracked Actor since the release of their incredible debut album Iconoclast (via hellosQuare recordings) in early 2015.
After touring in support of the album the band returned in early 2016 with the Duo EP, a stripped-down collection from members Sebastian Field and Matt Lustri.
Now to round out the year the band joins the Feral family for a new EP, Upstructures. Revolving around the title track – taken from Iconoclast – the EP features previously unheard material, plus remixes from Feral cohorts Broken Chip and 0point1.
All the elements which made us fall in love with their music are still intact; the razor sharp song writing, lush arrangements, and glistening vocal melodies.
We are extremely excited to help the band bring this latest offering into the world. Listen via the player below, or head over to the Feral store to download here
We are extremely excited to announce the release of Spartak’s amazing new EP Five Points.
For a number of years Spartak have operated in the outer reaches of indie rock, improvised jazz and modern composition and now make their return with this concise collection of forward thinking minimal electronics.
Influenced by Kompakt, the LA beat scene, Shackleton, Hood and noisy synth based dance music the trio apply these influences liberally into their music. The EP also sees them analysing their individual roles within the group, ultimately deciding what serves the song best and not limiting themselves to their previous roles and instruments.
Five Points is the culmination of these efforts, yielding the groups most immediate and accessible work to date. The EP represents a huge leap forward in both song writing and production, as well as a new found confidence in the vocals of both Ahmad and Dorrian. Vocal duties are shared equally between the two with Ahmad’s softly sung melodies complimented by Dorrian’s richly brazen baritone.
From the metallic pulse of opening track On Conditions, to the irrepressible groove of Catch/Control, to the cold desolate rhythms of Locked in Three; Five Points moves with undeniable clarity and cohesion. A bold, unique statement from a group at the top of their game.
The EP is available both digitally and as a limited edition CD from the Feral bandcamp store here
