RELEASE DETAILS:
Cleptoclectics manipulates samples, plays the odd loose keyboard solo, and extrapolates via granular synthesis to create dense, idiosyncratic music. Warm textures, a distinctive tonal range, and staggered beats combine to create an occasional tinge of sadness, that somehow develops into a subtle form of reverie.
It’s electronic music with humanity, imprecision and lots of layers.
Cleptoclectics is the brainchild of emerging producer Tom Smith. Originally from the outskirts of Canberra, Tom has been living in Sydney’s inner west, studying and making music since around 2003. A steadily growing catalogue of material eventually led to the Poignancy Beats Volume 1 demo being flung around – resulting in enthusiastic radio play. This is his debut release with Sydney’s Feral Media imprint.
