Strain of Origin V now available

After some unforeseen delays we are extremely excited to finally share the fifth instalment in our ongoing Strain of Origin compilation series.

As eclectic as ever, the latest instalment pairs forward-thinking Australian artists including Tim Shiel, Dylan Michél, Wabz, WORNG, Setec, and Mannheim Rocket, amongst others, asking them to remix each other’s work with no set rules or guidelines.

The resulting pieces are as compelling and varied as the artists themselves, once again showcasing the broad talent operating in the contemporary Australian music scene.

As with previous compilations, Strain of Origin V is available as a free download from the Feral Media bandcamp site here; or can be streamed via the player below.

Thank you to all of the amazing artists who took part in the compilation, we are extremely grateful for your contributions.

Virtual Mixtape #5 – Making

The latest in our ongoing Virtual Mixtape series with whothehell.net comes from Sydney trio Making whose album Highlife was one of the highlights of 2015.

Full of discordant guitar, razor sharp bass lines and complex rhythms, the band will certainly appeal to fans of contemporaries My Disco and the now sadly defunct Ohana.

In the spirit of the Virtual Mixtape series Making explore the weird and wonderful world of avant-rap royalty Kool Keith. Of particular note is the opening video 98 Year Old Refrigerator’ which will no doubt polarise those uninitiated with Keith’s work.
