A Decade of Feral Media

After much planning, curating and compiling we are thrilled to announce the official release of Feral Media’s 10 year anniversary compilation – 10 (A Decade of Feral Media)

The release encapsulates everything that Feral Media stands for and is a true representation of our music and vision. All of the artists involved hold a special place in our hearts and we couldn’t be happier with their contributions. We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to everyone who was involved in making this release the outstanding piece of Australian music history that it is.

The compilation is now available to purchase digitally or as a limited edition Playbutton from the Feral Media bandcamp site here

Feral Media & Red Door presents

We are thrilled to be co-hosting what is sure to be an incredible evening in Sydney on Thursday November 29th.
Feral Media and our good friend Scarlett Di Maio (aka Red Door) have gathered together some of our favourite Sydney acts for a fantastic evening of ecelectic & experimental music at the Red Rattler in Marrickville with all proceeds going to the Dirty Shirlows Collective.

Playing on the night are Making, Nakagin, Haunts and Option Command and to top it all off we have put together some great door prizes and giveaways for the night.
The Red Rattler is located at 6 Faversham St, Marrickville with the evening kicking off at 8pm. Further details can be found on the facebook event here.

If you are in Sydney on November 29th we would love to see you there!

Underlapper release Choking Ibis single

Underlapper have just released Choking Ibis, the third and final single from their most recent album Softly Harboured.
The single features an edit of the title track as well as the full album version and is further bolstered by some stunning remixes from friends and label mates Option Command (aka Broken Chip), Alpen and Comatone.

In addition to this Tessa C. Stevens of Sydney-based music website Pyramid Scheme has directed a film clip for the Option Command remix which you can watch below.

The single marks the end of a chapter for Underlapper as they begin work on recordings for what will hopefully be a new release in 2013. To stay up to date with all things Underlapper head over to their blog here

Choking Ibis is available as a free download from the Feral bandcamp site here

Strain of Origin II out now!

Strain of Origin II is our latest collaboration with Brisbane label Lofly and the second instalment in what will be an annual release.

In 2010 Feral and Lofly released The Strain of Origin which saw artists from each label remixing each others work in an interstate musical swingers party. The resulting compilation was released to critical acclaim which prompted thoughts of a second compilation and the possibility of an annual release. To keep the concept fresh the labels looked outside their own rosters and put the word out to a number of like-minded artists who have helped push this second compilation into a new realm both musically and geographically.

Strain of Origin II features contributions from AXXONN, Ambrose Chapel, Anonymeye, Dot. AY, Elroy 4.0, Jonathan Boulet, Mystery Twin (who also provides the amazing covert art for the release), Outerwaves, Simo Soo and Zeal. Whose contributions are bolstered by return performances from Feral and Lofly artists AFXJIM, Aheadphonehome, Alpen, Broken Chip (aka Option Command), Comatone, Mr Maps, ReSTReAM, Subsea, Thomas William, Toy Balloon and Underlapper with Feral artist Gentleforce also joining the ranks.

This release is a true testament to the high quality of music being made in Australia and we here at Feral Media could not be happier with the results.

Feral releases Hinterlandt curated comp

As we enter into the season of giving we here at Feral Media have a special gift for you.

Hinterlandt Presents: Through The Motions is our latest release and is available as free download from the Feral Bandcamp store.

Through The Motions is a curated compilation evolving around the Hinterlandt track Motion, taken from his album Migration Motion Movement released earlier this year.

A couple of months back Hinterlandt (aka German-born musician Jochen Gutsch) asked fellow Australian artists AFXJIM, Broken Chip, Godswounds, Lawrence English, Puzahki, Seaworthy, Simo Soo and Telafonica to create new pieces based on a handful of tiny sound snippets from the original track.
The resulting compilation is breathtaking and the inividual tracks are as diverse as the artists themselves.
